Apart from the mild flurry of excitement over Wuhan-400, I found the book ho-hum! Perhaps my expectations were greater. It's a competently written book that manages to fall flat, despite having multiple strong elements. My first Koontz was much better, and thus I read another. Unless one believes the other theory of Chinese eating bats who transmitted the disease.) One wonders if Wuhan and its bio "stuff" has been an "open secret" in certain circles!? Alas! One is never likely to know what happened there!

These could have given a very strong book. a medley of things, viz a "showgirl" turning into a successful director/ producer of a musical, the setting of Las Vegas/ casino, strong emotions like mother's love that transcends death, deep government conspiracy, high octane (not really) chase, intelligence agents, telekinesis and telepathy, snow clad mountains and hidden labs, etc.

Hence, the filmy nature of the book, i.e. The book was conceived as a tele series, which never saw the light of day. It's an Okayish book, that seemed like the script of a movie! I wasn't too far away from facts.
